The “Green Box” : the new revolutionary project of OMPE

In response to the States stagnation in the face of the REAL climate emergency and the demands of the citizens movements (Yellow Vests, Greta Thunberg’s actions, Climate Marches and Students Protests), OMPE today unveiled its revolutionary new project : the Green Box. It is the keystone of its larger project called the Global Environmental Transition Plan (GETP). Once again this year, OMPE wants to be a force of proposal to really start and succeed in our Ecological Transition.

The Green Box : if the green money really goes to the Ecology ?

In 2014, the French government gave birth to an umpteenth environmental tax officially called “Climate-Energy Contribution” but better known as the “Carbon Tax”. While it is not yet established, it is already perceived by the French as a new tax that will weigh on households. The Carbon Tax, which aims to encourage individuals and businesses to behave in a greener way, is actually an additional measure of budget performance adopted by the government under cover of ecology. Fuels, natural gas or coal, the Carbon Tax affects everything and brings a lot of money to the French State : 5.6 billion in 2017 and 10 billion in 2018 and 12.8 billion in 2019 if it continues to grow. Strangely enough, the government has finally decided to abolish the increase in the TICPE tax (internal tax on the consumption of energy products) planned for 2019… The state will have to give up about 4 billion euros. In general, French ecological tax revenues are expected to reach 37.7 billion euros in 2019.

The Carbon Tax is a principle that OMPE has rejected since the beginning. Unfair to citizens who have to bear an additional tax burden, the carbon tax is also cruelly lacking in transparency. Our project of Green Box provides a concrete answer to the Yellow Vests who are wondering, rightly, “where goes the money coming from ecological taxation ?“. In fact, only 19% of the billions generated will be donated to the ecological transition ! Of the 9 billion euros in carbon taxes collected in 2018, only 1.8 billion are for renewable energy. The Green Box is precisely made to put an end to the financial occultations in the ecology ! Thanks to it, the ecology will be less and less dependent on the political fluctuations and the politicians will not have the hand on the mode of circulation of taxes and ecological aids. Green money will really go to ecology !

The Green Box, keystone of the GETP and MAGMA

For several months now, the OMPE has been working not only on the Green Box project but on a more global Global Environmental Transition Plan (GETP). This GETP is based on two sub-projects : the Green Box for Ecology and Climate and the MAGMA (Management of Green Money Application), a software package that will manage the Green Box inside an automatic process.

The GETP is based on a simple principle : it is no longer the consumer who pays and is taxed but the companies considered polluting because they participate in CO2 emissions and rising temperatures. An independent committee will then determine tax brackets. Polluting companies will receive progressively fewer subsidies and pay more taxes, which will then be donated to Green Box. Societies considered eco-friendly, meanwhile, will logically receive more help and pay less taxes.

As France accounts for 1% of CO2 emissions worldwide, it could be an excellent “test country” for the Green Box, GETP and MAGMA.
