Saving water: the right things to do
********** HOT WATER **********
1. Washing clothes at low temperature
Washing at 40° consumes around 0.7 kWh, while at 30° the consumption is around 0.4 kWh. By lowering the temperature of your washing machine in this way, you achieve an average energy saving of 11%. Indeed, this device consumes a lot of electricity because of the heating of the water.
2. Take the shower rather than the bath
The bath is generally much appreciated. On average, we consume 200 liters of hot water for this one against 60 to 80 liters for a shower.
3. For do-it-yourselfers, insulate domestic hot water pipes
Insulating the hot water pipes makes it possible to limit heat loss, especially when the water heater or water tank is located in a cool room such as a pantry or cellar.
4. Set the hot water tank temperature
Another fairly easy gesture to do is to adjust the temperature of the balloon. To avoid any burns or overconsumption of energy, it is advisable to set the temperature between 55 and 60 degrees.

5. Dishwasher tips
By washing our cutlery by hand, we consume an average of 42 liters of water. As for the dishwasher, it consumes much less, an average of 9 to 12 liters of water. It is still essential to favor short cycles, avoid pre-washing, do not rinse the dishes beforehand (except scrape large residues with the cutlery) and wait until it is full before starting the wash.
6. Install aerator nozzles
To limit water consumption in general, the frothing nozzles are a great help. Indeed, these small devices are easy to install and allow the reduction of the water flow by 30 to 70% by simply injecting air bubbles.
7. Track the leaks
Turn off all water appliances, if the water meter is still running it means there is a hidden leak. A few drops can quickly turn into cubic meters.
Now it’s your turn !
